Rapture: Teach Your Children To Wait For Death, Teach Them Nothing Else

Rapture School Closure

In their article, Texas court rules against homeschoolers who expected rapture and stopped teaching kids, The Raw Story is reporting the Texas Court of Appeals Eighth District court ruling against the parents who removed their children from school, then failed to homeschool them as they were awaiting the rapture.

A Texas court ruled this month that parents who allegedly stopped homeschooling their kids because they believed Jesus Christ was returning to Earth were not exempt from state education regulations

Referring to a relative,

Tracy overhead one of the McIntyre children tell a cousin that they did not need to do schoolwork because they were going to be raptured.

Referring to El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) attendance officer Mark Mendoza,

Mendoza filed truancy complaints against the McIntyres in 2007, and the couple filed suit for injunctive relief based on Texas Education Code, the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act (TRFRA), the Texas Constitution, and the United States Constitution.

Religious Child Abuse

warebec’s post, Bunch o’ Links, included the poignant story IT HAPPENED TO ME: I Waited Until My Wedding Night to Lose My Virginity and I Wish I Hadn’t. It is an honest and revealing first person account by a young women of how her christian upbringing damaged her emotionally. It is truly sad that children are injured in the name of a deity.

Shortly after reading that piece, I came across this video on Twitter: What in God’s name are they doing to the children?

I highly recommend you do what I did accidentally. Read the article, then watch the video.

Your god Makes You This Hateful?

I am going to share a bit of fundie bible hatred with you. Before I do, I want to contrast that with a thoughtful piece by Reagent Post.

If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a moment to read My meaning of life.

Having done that, you’ll understand how very, very wrong is the thinking that follows.

To define the term:

Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism[1]) is a Christian belief that apart from salvation the final punishment of human beings results in their total destruction (annihilation) rather than their everlasting torment.

Annihilationism asserts that God will eventually destroy or annihilate the wicked, leaving only the righteous to live on in immortality.

So there is a line of thought that actually has god cutting those poor condemned souls a bit of slack by destroying them. Unfortunately, there are those who can tolerate no mercy from their all merciful and loving god.

The next bit is from Refuting annihilationism

Since we already refuted five proof texts for annihilationism in the last posts, I would like to refute the system as a whole.

The Bible makes it clear hell is eternal, and the lake of fire is eternal.

To argue any other way is to deny the Scriptures. So lets get started.

I really believe Reagent Post has a far superior view on life. He offers a view that integrates responsibility, positivity, self determination, and most importantly does not require murder, torture, everlasting bullshit, or hatred.

god, The Most Pernicious and Corrupting Concept Ever Created By Man

In a piece titled
Why did the Prophet Elisha curse the “youths” for making fun of his baldness?, the whacky fun luv’n christian altruistico rewrote the classic pissed off bears rip 42 children to death, god is great, bible passage.

For anyone unfamiliar with the story, it’s from 2 kings 2:23-24. I highlighted it some week’s ago.

Today I came across the bit of bible rewrite altruistico penned. It is about as simplistic a piece of phony reasoning as I’ve ever seen. I don’t want to get buried in the twisted path from god kills children to god is great, but here’s some highlights.

altruistico corrects the bad translation and changes “children” to “young men”. Complete spoiler.

He corrects the number of children to “a large demonstration of young men”. This is a willful fabrication. There is no mention of the number of children in the KJV.

In his summary, our loving christian actually ages the children to a minimum of 20, and gets right to his contrived justification for the murder of dozens of persons.

The Lord’s punishment was the mauling of 42 of them by two female bears. The penalty was clearly justified, for to ridicule Elisha was to ridicule the Lord Himself.

That anyone can reason a justification for mass murder is disturbing. Doing so out of loving worship of anyone, or anything, compounds a heinous act with a sadistic psychosis. To offer such a thing as teaching of any kind should be criminal.

Religion remains the most pernicious corrupting influence on humankind.

Exodus 11:4-6

{11:4} And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
{11:5} And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that [is] behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
{11:6} And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
