Your god Makes You This Hateful?

I am going to share a bit of fundie bible hatred with you. Before I do, I want to contrast that with a thoughtful piece by Reagent Post.

If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a moment to read My meaning of life.

Having done that, you’ll understand how very, very wrong is the thinking that follows.

To define the term:

Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism[1]) is a Christian belief that apart from salvation the final punishment of human beings results in their total destruction (annihilation) rather than their everlasting torment.

Annihilationism asserts that God will eventually destroy or annihilate the wicked, leaving only the righteous to live on in immortality.

So there is a line of thought that actually has god cutting those poor condemned souls a bit of slack by destroying them. Unfortunately, there are those who can tolerate no mercy from their all merciful and loving god.

The next bit is from Refuting annihilationism

Since we already refuted five proof texts for annihilationism in the last posts, I would like to refute the system as a whole.

The Bible makes it clear hell is eternal, and the lake of fire is eternal.

To argue any other way is to deny the Scriptures. So lets get started.

I really believe Reagent Post has a far superior view on life. He offers a view that integrates responsibility, positivity, self determination, and most importantly does not require murder, torture, everlasting bullshit, or hatred.

god, The Most Pernicious and Corrupting Concept Ever Created By Man

In a piece titled
Why did the Prophet Elisha curse the “youths” for making fun of his baldness?, the whacky fun luv’n christian altruistico rewrote the classic pissed off bears rip 42 children to death, god is great, bible passage.

For anyone unfamiliar with the story, it’s from 2 kings 2:23-24. I highlighted it some week’s ago.

Today I came across the bit of bible rewrite altruistico penned. It is about as simplistic a piece of phony reasoning as I’ve ever seen. I don’t want to get buried in the twisted path from god kills children to god is great, but here’s some highlights.

altruistico corrects the bad translation and changes “children” to “young men”. Complete spoiler.

He corrects the number of children to “a large demonstration of young men”. This is a willful fabrication. There is no mention of the number of children in the KJV.

In his summary, our loving christian actually ages the children to a minimum of 20, and gets right to his contrived justification for the murder of dozens of persons.

The Lord’s punishment was the mauling of 42 of them by two female bears. The penalty was clearly justified, for to ridicule Elisha was to ridicule the Lord Himself.

That anyone can reason a justification for mass murder is disturbing. Doing so out of loving worship of anyone, or anything, compounds a heinous act with a sadistic psychosis. To offer such a thing as teaching of any kind should be criminal.

Religion remains the most pernicious corrupting influence on humankind.

god is the Best School Security; or, Dangerously Free of the Ravages of Intelligence – I Fail to Understand

A man, a father, wrote about school shootings, the victims, and guns.

Everyone agrees such incidents are tragic, yet no one can agree on effective preventative measures. There is real and present danger in a national failure to effectively provide a safe haven in schools.

Far more dangerous than that failure is to transfer the entire issue – cause, prevention, victims – to the supernatural.

I still don’t know if an outright ban on guns is the answer. We need to be more responsible about firearms in our society, but the problem goes deeper than mere gun availability. What causes someone to pick up a gun and shoot someone? The only way to overcome evil is with faith and love. God is who protects us, and maybe He would prefer stricter gun laws in this country, but those laws alone can’t save our kids.

I am a thinking being. I value reason.

Eat the Children; Boiled, Please – I Fail to Understand the Cruelty, Obsession with Murdering Children

2 Kings 6:28-29

{6:28} And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
{6:29} So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him:
and she hath hid her son.

Malevolent deity, or self-loathing author?

I am a moral being. I value life.

Oh, eating children, or any person, is evil. Making a conscience choice to boil children before eating them… Well…

Who makes this shit up. Ooops. Sorry. It’s god’s divine… No, seriously, who makes this shit up?!
